Never mind that any money would have to be authorized by Congress and would add to the already bloated budget deficit.

A Series of Cash Scams

If the “$5,000 Trump Dividend” sounds familiar, that’s because you’ve seen this exact movie before. This isn’t a bold new economic plan; it’s the tenth time since returning to office that Trump has dangled unfunded cash promises to distract from a political crisis.

· July 2025: The floated $2,000 “Tariff Rebate.” We didn’t get that, but mega corporations did.

· November 2025: The promised “$2,000 Tariff Dividend”—which Trump declared “will be paid to everyone,” right up until his own Treasury Secretary admitted on live television that nobody had even discussed it with him.

· Early 2026: A floated $1,000 to $1,500 direct payment to replace expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies. As CNN dryly reported afterward, the policy died, the subsidies expired, and “people got neither.”

· September 2026: Within 24 hours of his Dallas speech, he promised $500 rebate checks to 1 million Americans over ACA overcharges, and floated a $9,000-a-year cash payment for stay-at-home parents.

None of these checks exist. None were ever submitted to Congress. None were ever funded. It is a recurring, predictable scam: whenever the headlines turn hostile, promise the public free cash, let your surrogates walk it back the next day, and count on voters to forget about it by next week.

If You Can’t Buy ‘Em, Rig the Map

Because Trump knows an unfunded cash pledge might not be enough to stop a midterm tidal wave, he’s running a parallel operation to make sure the actual vote counts don’t matter anyway.

In July 2025, Trump personally instructed Texas Governor Greg Abbott to perform an unprecedented mid-decade redistricting. The goal was nakedly corrupt: redraw Texas’s congressional map specifically to manufacture five additional Republican-leaning seats ahead of the 2026 midterms.
