TL;DR: We are in an all-out, existential battle for who gets to govern this country: We the People, or a toxic alliance of authoritarian politicians and unregulated tech oligarchs. In a 6-3 emergency ruling, the Supreme Court’s fascist-friendly wing just greenlit a federal plot enabling the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to weaponize Social Security and immigration databases to purge potentially millions of eligible citizens from state voter rolls right before the midterms. Meanwhile at the UN, Trump and Netanyahu took turns whitewashing atrocities, demanding the abolition of the International Criminal Court, and threatening nuclear annihilation. To top it off, Trump hosted a high-society dinner for Silicon Valley’s tech bros and Chinese officials—a room full of “public servants” plotting to make taxpayers bail out their AI bubble. It’s time to check your voter registration, organize, and vote these criminals out before the republic is completely sold off.

Welcome back to the resistance, folks.

A person doesn’t need a degree in constitutional law, a master’s in international relations, or a PhD in computer science to see what’s happening right in front of our eyes. We are currently locked in an all-out battle for the soul and control of this country: will it be We the People, or a cabal of techno-fascists and court-sanctioned authoritarians?

If you’ve been paying attention to the news over the past 48 hours, you know the authoritarian machine isn’t just idling away in the background—it’s firing on all cylinders.

Supreme Interference

Let’s start with the rogue, fascist-friendly supermajority sitting on the highest court in the land.

In a shadow-docket emergency ruling (Department of Homeland Security v. League of Women Voters), the six right-wing justices just handed the Trump administration a massive green light to violate citizens’ privacy in a desperate attempt to rig the upcoming midterm elections. The court ruled that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) can hijack personal sensitive data—including your full Social Security number—to construct a sweeping, unchecked list of “potentially ineligible voters” to hand over to state election officials.

The legal justification the administration leaned on—and the court rubber-stamped—is 8 U.S.C. § 1373, a federal statute meant to mandate information sharing regarding citizenship and immigration status. DHS’s statutory mandate is immigration enforcement; they have zero legal authority over state voter registration or election administration. Yet, this administration expanded the modified Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system to let federal agents sift through Social Security Administration databases.

The immediate problem? Social Security records are notoriously inaccurate, outdated, and fail to reflect naturalized citizens who obtained their SSNs prior to taking the oath. Even worse, these opaque federal purge lists are completely shielded from review by voting rights organizations and civic groups.

The entire “voter fraud” crusade remains a toxic, fabricated solution in search of a nonexistent problem. Study after study confirms that in-person voter fraud is so absurdly rare it’s statistically zero. This isn’t about election security; it’s a systematic effort to strip millions of legitimate citizens—disproportionately Democratic, minority, and low-income voters—of their fundamental right to vote.

If you’ve read my past reporting on Chief Justice John Roberts, none of this is surprising. Roberts has spent his entire career on a quiet, dedicated crusade to dismantle the Voting Rights Act and suppress the electorate. This 6-3 vote shows just how far the court’s conservative wing will bend the law to help their political patrons retain power.

This playbook isn’t new. It goes all the way back to 1980, when conservative operative and Heritage Foundation co-founder Paul Weyrich laid bare the GOP’s true philosophy on democracy:

“I don’t want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people. They never have been from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.”

They told us who they were 45 years ago. This isn’t about voter integrity; it’s a slow-motion, fascist takeover of our electoral system.

Our Un-United Nations

While the Supreme Court was busy shredding voting rights at home, the circus moved to New York for the UN General Assembly, where Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a masterclass in autocratic theater.

Both men spent their time at the podium defending outright atrocities and demanding the complete dissolution of the International Criminal Court (ICC)—which makes sense, given that Netanyahu is already facing international arrest warrants for war crimes, and Trump is desperately trying to stay one step ahead of his own global legal reckoning.

Netanyahu delivered a 40-minute rant that whitewashed history, aggressively defended the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and played a bizarre, aggrieved “Karen” routine targeting New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Then came Orange Julius Caesar. Trump opened his address with a completely fictional, hallucinatory summary of how “incredible” America is doing under his watch—blatantly ignoring the staggering cost of living destroying working families and his own historically abysmal approval ratings.

From there, he casually committed a war crime by threatening to completely “annihilate” Iran—strongly implying the use of nuclear weapons. He bragged about “ending 8 wars” and “saving Gaza,” a delusion cooked up entirely inside his own decaying cerebral cortex. To wrap up his foreign policy masterclass, he attacked the UN, demanded every single ICC member nation resign, and threw in a dose of cheap transphobia just to keep his base cheering.

Techno-Fascists at the Dinner Table

If you want to know who really holds the leash in this country, look no further than the state dinner hosted for Chinese officials during Trump’s recent photo-op with Xi Jinping.

Sitting side-by-side with autocratic Chinese officials were over 130 elite guests, featuring the crown jewels of American Big Tech. Seated at the head table alongside the US and Chinese presidential couples were Apple’s Tim Cook, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, AMD’s Lisa Su, and Elon Musk—who was personally seated right next to the First Lady.

Scattered across the room was the rest of the Silicon Valley oligarchy: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI President Greg Brockman, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. Interestingly, Anthropic executives were noticeably absent from the guest list.

And who was sitting right there alongside these tech barons and Chinese dignitaries? Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and HHS head RFK Jr.

These are the public officials who are theoretically supposed to be conducting the “people’s business.” Instead, they sat under crystal chandeliers with the tech bros, likely scheming up ways for American taxpayers to bail out the multi-trillion-dollar AI bubble when it inevitably bursts.

The Bottom Line

The future of our world depends on how quickly and thoroughly we regulate these unchecked techno-fascists and hold our rogue institutions accountable.

We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines while billionaires, corrupt judges, and unhinged autocrats trade away our rights for profit and power.

Stop what you are doing right now. Go check your voter registration. Confirm that DHS, your state government, or a rogue database hasn’t quietly purged you from the rolls. Help your friends, family, and neighbors check theirs. Then organize, show up, and vote every single one of these criminals out of office.
